C-4 factory neutral safety switch

greetings everyone, have a question regarding the switch assembly in a 302 w/C-4 shifter housing, am helping a buddy install a painless wiring harness in his 69 coupe, have the factory floor shifter for the C-4 and appears to only have the wiring for the shifter backlighting, does not have the plastic assembly that incorporates the neutral safety/back-up light switch like the one in my 69 mach w/FMX, is there a difference between the two, does the C-4 set-up have a trans mounted switch?

You can see by the attached photo's the "neutral safety switch" and mounting location. It also also operates the back up light switch on a C4

All C4 & C6 had the switch mounted on the transmission ... only FMX had it built into the shifter.  

 

I'm not familiar with FMX, but it was an older design and maybe it would have been too much trouble for Ford to re-design the trans case / lever to adapt to the C4/C6 type switch.
