rimblow questions

hello everyone, I am curious if a 70 rimblow will work on a 69. I just got a good deal on a 70 rimblow wheel and I am now hearing it may not work on the 69. also is there supposed to be some kind of spring between the wheel and the pad? thanks, mike

I know the pad is different.

It is substantially different for the 69 as it has locking mechanism for the 70 key-in-the-column car. I think it might still work but at least the locking wheel wont be functional. Beyond that the 70 was a larger diameter column. The wheel hub may look a little odd on the skinnier 69 column.

thanks for the input, I should have researched it before I bought it. with so much of the interior parts being interchangeable I thought it would have been the same, also didn't realize the 70 was locking with key in column.

There is plenty off demand for both 69 and 70 rim blow wheels. You shouldnt have much of a problem selling or trading for what you want.

I know the 70 has an slightly oval wheel where the 69 is perfectly round. You might research a little more because I think you can change out the 3-spoke centers but again, double check on that. You could always sell the spare parts.

While on the subject....anyone wish to share their experience with restoring their deluxe steering wheels? Is there a reasonable place to send them out to get done? Price?
