Starter/ starter solenoid issue help

Recommended Posts

Ok so my 69 mach1 sat for a few months and the battery was dead. I put it on the charger and when I tried to start it it acted like it was dead so I jumped it. It finally started after several cranks. As it started, I heard another noise (like starter not disengaging). I turned the key off and the car shut off but the starter kept trying to start the car with the key out. I figured it was a bad starter solenoid and replaced it. Tried to jump the car after the replacement and the solenoid just clicks. The ground seems fine and all connections appear clean.

Any ideas? Could the starter be damaged? Bad solenoid out of the box?

Thanks,

R

First give the fender wall starter solenoid a couple of taps of the top. Turn the key and see what happens. If the car starts great replace it anyway. If the car doesn't start fine replace it anyway. Brian

Tried banging on it and same results
