scvt99 10 Report post Posted September 2, 2014 I have a 69 Mach 1 and the hood decal has water spots. They were there when I purchased the car. What can I do to get rid of them? Thanks, Joe
1969-Mustang-ZX-427 11 Report post Posted September 3, 2014 You can maybe get a pin and pop them and it'll get rid of them, I mean ya can't squeeze them out cause it's already dry and on the car now, so best bet is to pop them, don't use heat or a blow dryer otherwise it'll make them bigger and loosen the decal
michael2938 24 Report post Posted September 3, 2014 Out of curiosity, what hood decal are you talking about? Mach 1's have the blackout hood... are you saying that blackout is a decal? I thought it was always painted on.

cappy1.rm 10 Report post Posted September 3, 2014 Are we talking water spots or bubbles? If its water spots,, some polishing compound should take them out... If air bubbles,, maybe a needle. pinpoint to too big...
scvt99 10 Report post Posted September 3, 2014 The stripes and hood are a decal, not paint. The water spots are flat and not bubbles.
1969-Mustang-ZX-427 11 Report post Posted September 4, 2014 Then yea okay if it's water spots than you can just apply heat so it evaporates the remaining water

Fordrevhead 29 Report post Posted September 5, 2014 If it's vinyl try Meguiars M17 plastic cleaner. If successful U may want to consider their Gold Class Trim Detailer to as a sealer of sorts. Read up on the application of this first it involves a wait time for absorbtion and wiping excess carefully.
cappy1.rm 10 Report post Posted September 5, 2014 Polishing compound on flat black......bad idea. That's not quite true. Depends on your experience. I used to do it 45 years ago.
