1970 Mustang Fastback Resto Mod

Recommended Posts

Hey guys how's it going!! I just joined because I'm about to take on a huge project and I'm probably gonna need help and ill probably answer some of your questions. So Im 18 years old and i know thats pretty young but i know my way around a car, that being having grown up with a family with about 18 old hotrods and classics. So I have a 1970 mustang fastback with a 351W 4-speed. I recently was just given a 1999 mustang with a fully custom 4.6 Saleen supercharger engine and custom suspension and I've decided I'm going to do a swap and put the new in the old. I know its a ton of work!! But I'm pretty excited for when its gonna be done. These are just a couple pictures from what it looked like before paint it got sent to paint about 2 years ago when we just drove it around to school. Sucks that i spent all that time putting it together, not knowing that I'm just gonna tear it all apart and its probably gonna have to be painted again. Ill post pictures for updates and such.

Hey guys so here's a quick update. I've been taking apart my fastback this week and will post pictures later once the old engine is out. So I've been doing a ton of research and it seems the 4.6 will fit fine in my engine bay. But I was wondering if anyone knew if the suspension of my 1999 mustang would fit the 1970 mustang?

If this is a Cobra 4V motor - it will not fit without modifying your shock towers. (I'm doing the same 4.6 4V motor in mine). I'll be using the Rod and custom complete MII suspension for it.

4.6 4V vs. 302/351 SBF

I don't see how you would ever get the 99' Mustang suspension into the '70. The dimensions are pretty different, and there are far better aftermarket solutions than trying to make that work.
