kidsStang 11 Report post Posted January 13, 2014 Has anyone ever added these to existing heads? looking for feedback, is it worth price? did it make big differance? It looks like a pretty simple upgrade, but then most do.
Wycked69 20 Report post Posted January 13, 2014 Several may have added the "roller tip" rocker to the existing stock head if it was a stock or mild cam. If you are talking about a Full roller rocker, most people who install a bigger cam need to use full roller rockers. If your head uses the pedestal type rocker, the stock head has to be machined so that threaded studs and guide plates can be added in order to use the full roller rocker. (I'm not sure about shaft mount type rockers (FE Engines) but I imagine guide plates have to be added as well) If you have a stock cam, standard rockers or roller tip rockers are just fine. If you increase the valve lift due to the cam size, you then have to consider full roller rockers depending on the cam specification. It saves wear and tear due to Valve lift and spring pressures. 69RavenConv 286 Report post Posted January 14, 2014 I converted my original engine to a roller cam and used the roller tipped rocker arms as well. I don't know if it was worth the cost but it does give me peace of mind.
