1969Fstback 58 Report post Posted January 4, 2014 I plan to lower my 69 fastback. How do I select new shocks? I do not want them to bottom out. How do I measure, after its lowered?

1969Fstback 58 Report post Posted January 4, 2014 Mike, How did you go about dropping yours 4 inches? And is there any gotchas? I was gonna do the reverse eye leafs and new front springs. But that's only 2 inches.

miketyler 15 Report post Posted January 5, 2014 The rear I did by de-arching springs 2" then added 2" drop blocks. A lot of guys don't like blocks because of the stress it can add during launch but my car is a cruiser and never becomes an issue. The front I did the Shelby-Arning drop on and cut 1.5 coils off my springs to level the rockers with the rear.
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted January 5, 2014 I don't think you'll have any problems with stock shocks. The bump stops will prevent bottoming out. It's sorta like door windows when the top is chopped. Use the stock glass but the window doesn't get rolled up all the way in the channels. Bob
