MACH1969 10 Report post Posted October 23, 2013 The tach on my 69 mach stops at 1500. Any suggestions on how to fix?
Alan_Mac 48 Report post Posted October 24, 2013 Do you have a multi spark ignition box?

danno 128 Report post Posted October 24, 2013 So it is ok at idle, and reads the 800 rpm. Then you start to increase it from idle, and the needle increases until it gets to 1500. Then if you rev the engine further, it no longer increases? Was the tach original equipment on the car? It sounds like you have an electronic ignition. Are your distributor, points, coil, and wires original? Most times these aftermarket changes will not allow the tach to operate correctly. Or is there an insect that has crawled into your dash and died in your tach? Maybe it died in the place that will restrict the needle from moving further? rmarks 20 Report post Posted October 26, 2013 Maybe time for a rebuild by Tachman.
Alan_Mac 48 Report post Posted October 26, 2013 I had my factory ford tach retrofitted with VDO internals at Redline Gauge Works. Much better than factory internals and it can be triggered directly off my Crane ignition box. The tach looks factory and the needle is on zero when off. This was a big improvement and well worth it.
