Thunderscrash 10 Report post Posted May 26, 2013 The wiring in my car is shotty at best and I am trying to get it straight a little. I bought a new circuit board for my gauges and the wiring that goes out to the engine. I believe I have the temp and oil pressure gauges correct but I cant seem to figure out where the wire for the alternator gauge goes. Btw, my car is a 302, 2v if that makes a difference. Oil pressure - White wire/red stripe - obviously goes to the sending unit Water temp - Red wire/white stripe - obviously goes to the sending unit Alternator - Red wire/green stripe - ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Thanks in advance.
LoneWolf2U 136 Report post Posted May 26, 2013 Red/grn to coil + side. Alt wire is in main loom that crosses in front of rad.
Thunderscrash 10 Report post Posted May 27, 2013 Thanks. My alternator gauge wire actually runs with the oil pressure and water temp wires.
Midlife 814 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 Thanks. My alternator gauge wire actually runs with the oil pressure and water temp wires. Huh? That's definitely not stock. For both 69 and 70 (you didn't say what year), a gauge harness has the oil, coil, and water temperature signals. For 69, the alternator signals go through the headlight harness, attaching to a three or four prong plug that joins to the alternator harness. For 70, the alternator signals go with the main underdash harness out towards the starter solenoid, and joins up with the alternator with a blue two prong plug.
