Finally found an air cleaner that fit under stock hood, kinda

With a little modification from my mechanic we made this jegs offset air cleaner http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performance+Products/555/50001/10002/-1,fit under the stock hood. It is a flat base 14" x 2" air cleaner with a notch cut out for the float adjustment screw and braised closed. We also trimmed the rubber seal on the air filter, but not much. Fits over Holley 750 Double Pumper with an Edelbrock performer RPM manifold and stock motor mounts. I hope this helps someone. I did a lot of research on what air cleaner fit's under 1969 mustang stock hoods and gave up only to try many options myself. I have not put my export braces back on yet, but I don't think it should be a problem. Good luck

i would just make sure it is clean and smooth and paint it to match the valve covers nobody would know the difference

I have a 351w, rpm intake mani and a 14x3" air filter. Mine fits perfectly fine. Wonder what's different between the our setups that makes it hard for you ti fit a filter?

HEI dizzy would be my guess.

Yes the HEI was in the way and the float adjustment screws were not allowing any other flat base filters to seal right. The 2" filter flows as much as I need so I haven't messed with trying to get a 3 inch to fit.

Ah, the spacer. Yeah, I can't fit my filter with a spacer...I tried :(
