rawlinss 14 Report post Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) What adhesive do you use for the paper lining moisture barrier inside doors?? Edited December 4, 2012 by rawlinss
dsc2 10 Report post Posted December 5, 2012 You need a non-hardening adhesive compound, original was light grey in color. Vendors sell specific watershield products but you can find the same at a home improvement center for less.
JTG 10 Report post Posted December 5, 2012 Are most of you guys replacing this paper lining? I really did not think about it until this post but I do remember that paper and adhesive was annoying when I needed to get into the door. I could see using a thick plastic instead of the paper. miketyler 15 Report post Posted December 5, 2012 I planned to use a heavy mil plastic and attach/seal with strip caulk or something similar.
etel64 10 Report post Posted December 5, 2012 I used the extra foil tape to tape the top edge and called it a day. I think the new door panels tighten up against the paper enough. I am not sure of what the purpose of the paper was originally intended for but I think it may be just to prevent any moisture from hitting the door panel foam. LindenBruce 27 Report post Posted December 5, 2012 You are correct. It's a treated moisture barrier. The back of the original door panels was a paper or wood based product and moisture would cause deterioration. A lot of the panels today are plastic backed IIRC.
