Where is the serial number stamp on an FMX tranny?

Where exactly is the serial number stamped on a 1969 FMX tranny? I had my car up on the hoist but could not find it.

I couldn't find a stamped serial number, but mine has C9ZP7006A cast in raised digits on the drivers side center iron case above the linkage arms.

Thanks RPM. But what I am referring to is the VIN stamp. Apparently the trannies for 1969 mustangs made in San Jose (and maybe the other factories as well) had the consecutive unit number stamped in.

Hmm...well my 69 San Jose car doesn't have one unless it's under the pan.

I'm going from memory, but somewhere I read that on San Jose cars the engine block and the transmission were numbered in the same manner – “9Rxxxxxx” I found the number on my block (rear of block just below the drivers side cylinder head), and was hoping to find it on the tranny to confirm that it is original to the car.

Hoping someone chimes in with some info.

I couldn't find any pictures of the FMX stamp (mine from Metuchen isn't stamped), but below may help others with a 4speed or C6
