Archon 10 Report post Posted November 17, 2011 So I have read quite a bit on what it could be but I just wanted to get some other opinions. I have some white/grey smoke coming out of my exhaust. It's not blue, it smells like gas, no sweetness , does not go away, and stays the same even when the engine is warm. I have a 302 with a ton of miles and old gas so that could also be the problem. Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted November 17, 2011 White smoke is actually steam most of the time and you likely have a bad head gasket. Check your coolant level in the radiator and look for bubbles while it is running. Also check to see if antifreeze has contaminated the oil, you'll know, it will look like a chocolate milkshake. Do not run the engine if the oil is contaminated with antifreeze as further damage can result. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
LindenBruce 27 Report post Posted November 17, 2011 X2 on what Pak said. Black smoke is a rich fuel mixture, blue is oil, and white is unwanted moisture like engine coolant/antifreeze/water.
