cobra460jet 10 Report post Posted November 12, 2011 I found a supposedly nos flip open gas cap. Guy only wants $225 for it. Kinda cheap for a nos gas cap. frankenstang 11 Report post Posted November 14, 2011 The original pop up gas cap was only one piece. There was a gasket on the end of a spring that sealed the tank. They then came out with a factory replacement that has a cap that seals the tank then the outer cap flips up to close over it. The reproduction caps aren't nearly as nice. Check the part number on the cap and see how it seals to the tank. If you can get some pictures try to post them on this thread, I'm sure we can give a best guess. I paid about double that for a really nice one for my '68 and just about that for a great condition used one for my '69. That does sound cheap for a real NOS one.
