dkm004 11 Report post Posted August 7, 2011 Hiya all. Im getting an annoying high pitch squeal originating from my 351W alternator. Its mainly when cold but not always. danno 128 Report post Posted August 8, 2011 With the key switch off, disconnect the alternator wires by unplugging the connector. Now see if it squeels when running. If it still squeels, you have a bad bearing. If it does not, you have a bad or misaligned belt. You cannot be 100% sure with this method, though.
