02Lightning 10 Report post Posted July 6, 2010 I will adjust it and it always works it way out of adjustment. This is a reproduction mirror.
Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted July 6, 2010 Reproduction of what style? Is it just the lens or the whole mirror? Remote driver or regular driver/passenger? What color? OK, we don't need that last one but a little more info might help!

Cruzzar 22 Report post Posted July 7, 2010 Sorry my previous suggestion did not work, it has been a while since I worked on mine. Can the mirror be taken out of the housing by undoing the small screw and then somehow tightening up the pivot assembly? Just searching for a suggestion. very fat and very dumb 40 Report post Posted July 7, 2010 I'm guessing that with many reproduced parts the quality sucks. As a LAST resort you could take the mirror portion out and goup it up with epoxy or glue, reinstall the mirror, set it to your liking and let it set up. Just a thought. 02Lightning 10 Report post Posted July 7, 2010 Oh, I’m not complaining, I appreciate the suggestion. I’m thinking rubber cement or loctite.
very fat and very dumb 40 Report post Posted July 7, 2010 After thinking about it more why not start out with some clear silicone caulk? It would be easily removed and might have enough holding power, you have nothing to lose by trying.
02Lightning 10 Report post Posted July 7, 2010 Good idea, a guy on the other forum suggested to pull the mirror apart and skuff the ball up but I'm not sure how to get it apart.
02Lightning 10 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 I think there are some screw that can tighten it up. You should see the screw if you turn the mirror and look between the housing. No, that screw just holds the mirror to the housing. You take that screw out and the mirror separates from the housing. To fix this I took it apart and put rubber cement around the ball and socket, that seemed to do the trick.
relic1864 10 Report post Posted October 16, 2010 The man that restored my car told me that he got a small tip metal punch. He hit the punch around the ball that the mirror turns on. By doing that the punch raises the edges where the punch dinted in. By doing this it made the ball tighter and kept the mirror in place. The mirror needs to be turned before you punch it so the punch marks are kind of on the ball where the mirror sits and not punched where they are too far out. When you re adjust the mirror the ball with the punch marks are far enough under that tte raised marks hold the mirror tighter. Hope this makes since but mine is tight where before it was loose. 02Lightning 10 Report post Posted October 17, 2010 I understand, what i did works for now. If it becomes loose in the future I will try this. Thanks
