70 Mach 1 - Rust under battery

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I figured I'd give myself a break and do an easy job. That was to replace the battery tray.

I pulled the old one out and under it are 2 holes about 1" each. This seems to be the inner fender where the tray sits.

Below this is a plate that looks like it is about 12 inches long and 3 inches wide. It sits right below where the battery tray sits, but is under the fender.

Is this part under the fender are normal or is tthis an old patch done by a previous owner.

I hope I explained it. Remove battery tray and the are 2 rot holes.

Under the car in that area is a plate, but the plate has rounded edges like it could be a real part.

Any help appreciated as always. Does it ever go easy???// Print Dad

Hey PD, I took this picture just now. I think this is what you're describing, so I'm gonna guess this is a stock reinforcement of the battery tray. I didn't follow the "rot holes" though. Maybe that isn't obvious without removing the tray.
