3Must 10 Report post Posted March 23, 2009 I am a little confused. I dug out my quarter panel extensions (69 fastback). I noticed that one was much heavier than the other. The drivers side was made out of pot metal, and the passenger side was made out of fiberglas or plastic. They both have C9ZB part numbers. I thought it was odd to have original 69 parts made out of different materials. Does anyone know if this is common?
69RestoRod 10 Report post Posted March 23, 2009 I have heard that it can be found on many examples. Change over from pot metal to fiberglass to save money, but extra inventory has to go first. Could also be an over the counter part to repair accident damage years ago.
Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted March 23, 2009 We did have a topic on this a few years ago, as usual BNickel was the one with the history facts on it as I recall, maybe he'll chime in.

My friend's '70 Mach 1 has both fiberglass.

Fordrevhead 29 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 they did make both... seems odd that they would mix on a given car though. Maybe one was replaced as someone indicated.
