Soundproofing - Varmint barrier

Recommended Posts

I have the back seat (bottom and back) out of my '69 Vert - putting in new seat belts and reupholstering the quarter panels. I had to dispose of some animal nests compiled with the prior owner.

Would like some suggestions about what to put on the floor, the back and sides for insulation/soundproofing that also might deter future visitors.

Thx

Dick

I read somewhere that a string of Christmas tree lights under the car will deter mice, since they're looking for a dark, safe place. I've never tried it (not sure I believe it) I just use the usual traps and poison baits around the garage and hope for the best. I try not to leave stuff like boxes piled up in one place for too long either.

Maybe you could put a cat under the back seat?

Something that has worked for me is the Ultrasonic pest deterents. I have plugged it into the end of the extension cord and put it near the car. I have not had any visitors for three years. Another "remedy" is to put mothballs around your tires. Another has said to put Stay Soft dryer sheets in your car. I don't know how the last two work.....but so far I am happy with the ultrasonic unit.

I used both Dynamat and B-Quiet on my floors, roof, doors and trunk. The B-Quiet Ultimate was cheaper than Dynamat and is a little better in my opinion. It made a difference in interior noise. I'm not sure what the insulation factor is but made a difference in the summer heat penetrating through the roof.
