Infinity 10 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 How tight does the fuel filter need to be? Mine is for a 6cyl and it screws directly into the carb. It was leaking the other day so I tightened it. I guess I have more muscle than I thought because it broke! I bought a new one and broke it again! Should I just put some thread tape on it, go finger tight, then turn it 1 more turn with a wrench? Thanks, Josh
Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 I really am not familliar with the 6cyl setup attachinng directly to the carb but as a general rule I put some type of thread sealer on every fitting that carries air or fluid even if it doesn't call for it. coz 108 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 I agree with Pak. Fluids and air get thread tape or sealant. Plugs get anti-sieze and bolts get blue Lok-tite. Bolts that will never be pulled get red Lok-tite but that is very rare....
Infinity 10 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 I used tape last night, wrapping it around twice. I went finger tight with an extra full turn on the wrench. So far, no leaks. Thanks guys. Josh
