wantahertzdonut 10 Report post Posted October 9, 2006 This is kind of a stupid question, but is the antenna on the 1970 cars supposed to retract all the way down to the hood or does the largest section always stay extended? I'm deliberating buying a new one since CJ is selling them for $10 today.
69grandecj 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2006 A portion of it does stay extended. By looking at your picture that appears to be the proper height retracted.
wantahertzdonut 10 Report post Posted October 9, 2006 Ok, I'll save my money. It just seemed odd that the last part would stick out.
DarkBuddha 107 Report post Posted October 12, 2006 Mine didn't retract at all. It was all the way up all the time. I just decided to replace it with an electric antenna from an '80 Tbird instead.
buening 63 Report post Posted October 12, 2006 Yeppers, factory antenna's from normal mustangs did not retract at all. The replacement antennas do retract though. Not sure about the antennas mounted on the rear quarter on the shelby's, they may be retractable.
Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted October 12, 2006 I was going to mount mine to the rear for a cleaner look and to make hooking up the trunk CD player easier but now that those plans have changed I am just going with the elecric one, that will look clean enough. 351carlo 10 Report post Posted October 12, 2006 Yea mine doesn't retract. I was worried it was supposed to and almost ordered one on the CJ discount day.
