  1. slowly getting her all back together...It sure takes longer than tearing it apart !! The front end is pretty much done. The side scoops and mirrors are painted and ready for the install today !!! Then the interior !! Notice the license plate on the wall in the mirror pic...From 1969... Before and after.....
  2. Great Idea about Bills parts, I'll PM him. I didn't get pics of the 'Hockey sticks' last night. I was prepping and painting the side scoops and mirrors... I will get a pic today and post them. Im interested to see what you find out with you investigation.
  3. Well I think for now I will get the ones I have re-chromed. I will then start looking for the proper ones. When I find them, I'll replace everything. I believe your right about having a hard time finding the stainless pieces. Just another hurdle to jump over.....good times !!! ;-)
  4. It just so happens that I have them here at work. The hockey stick ones I have are stamped with... C9ZB-76423A19A FoMoCo(Logo) 10987 LH and C9ZB-76423A18A FoMoCo(Logo) 10986 RH. Very Odd. And the boot I have fits them perfectly..... I'm gonna take these to our plating shop here at work, maybe I can fenagle a deal with the boys in there to re-chrome them. If not I will change them and get a new boot....
  5. Thanks for the info Pak.... I wander if there are different styles... I can't get to the Ebay link here at work, I'll look when I get home. However I have found many verts with the same mouldings as mine ???? (See Pic)
  6. Do you mean the 'snaps'? The boot I have snaps on to them. Is that not the right thing for the boot? I'll take a pic of the boot I have when I get home. Do you have a pic of the proper moulding ? Also, I have 4 pieces of moulding. 2 along the trunk and 2 'hockey sticks'. Is this correct or has some PO done a 'modification' ??? Thanks !
  7. Does anyone know where I can find the boot mouldings ? Mine are in rough shape, so I'd like to get some new ones but I cant find them anywhere !! Thanks......
  8. I like the original machined ones...JMO
  9. Doooooh....How did I miss that !!...Sorry for the re-post.... :-(
  10. I would kill this guy !! Check out THIS story !!! Some people deserve a good boot kicking ! I would love to help this guy out somehow...I can't imagine how he must be feeling !!
  11. Thanks Pak !! Great idea about the inner nuts !! I plan on cutting the original ones off and mounting the proper 6 studs. Just another part that needs to be modded before it works...Im used to it now. I was also thinking about a rubber seal around the scoop where it meets up to the 1/4. But that may give too much of an air tight bond and make it hard for the scoop to vent air out. I don't want these things flying off on the highway !! stangme428 I will post another vid when I get some gas and fire her up again. Being such a fresh engine Im not sure that firing it up alot is a good thing. I haven't been able to do the 'break in' drive yet. I have heard that idling it right now is not a good thing. I don't know if that's true or not. I really want to hear what it sounds like as well !!
  12. Well she's back in my garage and she's sporting new exhaust. Went with the Dynomax UltraFlo's, 2 1/4" pipes. I haven't run it yet as it's out of gas, but I'm sure the neighbors will like it better than the straight headers !!:whistling: It sure looks a lot better in the garage than when it left !! The Shelby side scoops showed up today, now I have to figure out how to mount them. They have 3 studs but none of them line up to any holes on the 1/4 panel. I'll have to re-mount some studs. Other than that, I hope to start putting it all back together this weekend.
  13. Well I went out to the shop to pull the paper off and take her out into the sun. It looks so much better in the sun !! Tomorrow I will do the wetsanding and polishing. Then I'll bring it back to my garage and start putting it back together. Here's a few more pics in the sun. The pearl on the hood really looks great in the sun. The pics do not do it justice ! And yes, I plan tp black out the area under the cowl.
  14. A couple of more pics....I can't wait to see it in the sun !!
  15. And now for the Blue.... I did decide to go with a pearl effect on the hood and tail light panel. I went with a slight shimmer blue pearl. Not too much. Just under 1 gram in a pint of clear. The effect is hard to tell in the booth with a camera, but in the sun it should really pop.
  16. Well its finally painted. It was a very long day but its done, for the most part. I still have some small pieces to spray but the majority of it is completed. The next step will be to wet sand and polish it.
  17. More pics............. I feel a little Blue !!:whistling:
  18. Hahaha....your not a goof !! Goof's wear bow ties and drive Chev's ..... Ah...I'm a little rambunctious tonight...It's car paint eve !!! Tomorrow I spray the old girl !! She's all ready to go...Finally !!! Spent 8 hours today doing the final block sand. Tomorrow I will do the final wet sand and spray away !!:tongue_smilie:
  19. It's Acapulco Blue. You can see it on page 11 of this thread. I did under the hood and inside the doors. Also, I have been having a hell of a time finding the side quarter panel ornaments. Not the chrome peice but the actual part that bolts to the 1/4 panel. One I have is screwed !! PO filled it with bondo where it was broken. So I decided to go with the Shelby side scoops. I think they'll look better anyway....just more money.....Good Lord stop the bleeding !!!
  20. I haven't updated this thread in a while. I finally got the car back from the trans shop. They are still saying the engine builders put the wrong flex plate on, so that battle still rages on....stay tuned !! On the plus side I have started the 3rd. and final block sand. It's damn hot here now so I'm sweating my ass off long boarding this thing !! It's coming out very nice though !! Feels really good. The final wet sand in 600 grit should be done by late Thursday/early Friday. If all goes well I will be spraying her on Saturday !!! I ordered the paint today (DuPont Chroma Base & Chroma Clear). I was gonna go with the black hood like most others, however I may do something a bit different. I'm leaning toward a darker blue pearl rather thank black. Kinda like a ghost thing on the hood and tail light panel. Ya can't really see it until the light hits it a certain way. Very subtle.
  21. Well I just spoke to the tranny shop. Apparently the flex plate that the machine shop put on the engine was the wrong one for an FMX application. It is about a 1/4" too thick and pushed the tourque converter against the pump, causing the issue. So now its gonna cost me another $1000.00 to get the trans fixed. So I'm gonna have to go after the engine builder to TRY to recoup my losses....Ya....good luck with that !!!
  22. So if that does happen, How do you make sure the pump is not jammed ?? Hope and a prayer ???? Once the motor and trans was in the car I checked through the inspection plate that all the nuts were properly tightened. What more should I have done ???
  23. I love those valve covers. I almost went with them. Looking good !!
  24. Well the trans is out and they say the pump was jammed and is now FU@#*d !! When I put the motor and trans together I could move the torque converter freely. So I know that the pump could not have been jammed then. So now Im in a big fight with the tranny shop !!:censored: They say its not their fault and Im sure it aint mine !! I have NOT had a good car week !!! :cursing:
