  1. Cool sounds like you have done your homework and have a good team of experts to help you, what type fuel system you running, carb, injected, turbo, sc, that is going to be a beast, keep the pics coming I love watching these cars come back to life, If the power tour gets closer to texas maybe we will meet up one day. Thats part of my enjoyment is getting to know other people with the same passion for mustangs no matter if its a kids first car for 3k or a build like yours with 100+k I like them all!!
  2. prostreeter thanks for all the kind words, I started the build myself all the tear down then broke my leg, after a year of healing I realized like you I was better off doing what I do and letting someone else finish my project, so I really cant take credit for the hands on stuff I took it to Doug at classic collision in Bryan TX. I give him and his guys credit for all the hard work, I worked with him on my ideas of the build and what I wanted the car to look like, which I have changed some stuff during process.(thats the hardest thing of a build the design, color, and wheel and tire options..ect..) ok so wheels and tires I thought I had a plan for the boze injected, but I have changed that now and I am going with the new pro-touring design of billet specialties/patriot with the kdw 2 tires all the way around I am going to see if I can fit 295/40/18 on the hood issue you have reproduction, ford tooling, or original oem, a repro is fine for the older mustang from what I am told but for our cars you dont want a repro for sure you need at least a ford tooling, or if you can find or afford a oem even better. so I used a ford tooling!! I thought about using a silver in the dash, or painting both the plastic inserts of the dash silver, but that plastic has texture to it and you would need to sand it, which I just thought it was a little to much show car for what I want I like alot of the orig. stuff to a mustang, I am going to paint the console silver to break up some of the black int. on the airride I used air-ride technologies which is now ridetech. I mounted it behind the rear seat under the package tray, everthing fits good there, pump tank switches. look at top of pic here is a pic of a silver console here is the strerring wheel I ordered from shutt

  4. very nice, I like all the ideas you have for it sounds alot like mine, just my opinon I would go with 18 front and 19 rear that car has a wide ass and would support it well, mine is a coupe so I will be going with 18 all the way around, either way it will be awsome though.

  6. stangme thanks for the comments, I put a fast 4150 style tb it sets real low, I am having them make a aircleaner you can see the part on the tb there from there it is going to have a boot then elbow and run up toward the front pass side of motor and just have a k&n cone filter, thats the only prob with the tall 351 not much hood cleararence at all.

  8. finally got the car running, had a few wires that had to be fixed, and had to replace a msd box, used a laptop and a startup tune from f.a.s.t that works pretty good, we still have to get mufflers on its open headers now so we still need to put in the o2 sensor and coolant, but for first time start up runs pretty good I think. here is a link to the vid. http://yfrog.us/0wmustang3180z

  13. we use to use a baseball bat to roll the lips in (don't beat it with the bat) with your tires and wheels on the car stick the bat in at an angle over the tire with the handle pointing down get someone to drive the car forward slowly and let the bat slowley roll up the fenderwell as your putting pressure down, you can start with the handle on the tire first if you have a small gap or just keep finding the right spot on the bat for thickness to easyly roll in the inner lip of the fender, hope that makes sense.
  14. sounds real simular to my build check it out here under project progress my 70 mustang coupe, I have the same electric windows your asking about with the handles as switches read the tread I tell what they are and where to get them good luck on your ride and look forward to pics let me know if I can help with any info.
  15. cool, take lots of pics. so whats the theme since she has a name, stock or resto.
  16. Thats awsome I remember when I had my car at 16 lots of memories, and as I look back that car kept me out of trouble I would be wrenching on it and flippin burgers to pay for parts, he will be glad to be on here just dont let him look at pakrat's avatar to long, lol
  17. some progress headliner is in pics of drivers side window front glass in working on back back glass in hard to tell its pretty clean for factory glass
  18. no, not on a 70 coupe, they were kind of the bastard child, it has the metal clips what yall are talking about but also has plastic clips as well for the small trim, I called one place and they said good luck, I thought someone here may have ran into this before, even the 70 grandes are different than an actual coupe and 69 are diff, and of course fastbacks are diff, thanks guys ill keep looking
  19. does anyone know where I might find the plastic clips that go in the rear glass of car that holds in the trim moulding?
  20. hey stangme one other thing we found which may or may not help on the md kit, we could not get the clutch to engage but just a hair, so long story short, the shaft that the hyd throw out bearing is on was longer on some of the tko 600 (dont ask why) so we called md and he said sometimes the need a spacer that slides over the shaft then the t.o bearing goes on after which gets it closer to the clutch, which they were out of stock so we cut our own from some pipe and it works great, so if you hit that prob. you know how to fix it.. and post some pics how is the motor coming, back in the car yet ,, maybe by spring or summer we can be driving!!!
  21. I would really consider 2 things first as far as where you want your car to be, first is do you want a daily driver that looks good but not over the top, or do you want a really nice sunday driver that sees shows on the weekend and some dragstrip, or just a full out drag car, after that see what your budget is, I would say you could learn to do most of the work on your own and save. but if I would quess it would cost about 10 to15k to have a nice daily driver, going back mostly stock doing it yourself, if you want to get most of it done for you and go most stock it would prob. cost 30k if you want a really nice car show or sunday car you could spend prob 30k stock doing it yourself and 50-70k if you really want to start modifiying everthing and have it done, so think of what your goal is and budget and go for it, post pics when you can I love to see these car being done congrats on your new project!!
  22. hang in there stay focused on one thing at a time try and meet your little goals to get to the big one, I know it's hard I had to decide to sell my 02 lighting that only had 30k miles 450hp to the rear wheel, all the bells and whistles, I still miss that truck the most fun I have had since my stang was on the road but had to do it or knew I would not finish my stang, nice thread keep the pics coming good luck.
  23. very nice I must have missed this one, I got tunnel vision on my own, good job, it's all the fun stuff now, congrats!!!
  24. stangme these are the same ones that cphsonic has on his 69 I got the idea from him I am going to put them in my original cluster I looked at yours and wanted the horse emblem in there as well, but I really like these guages they look good and do have alot of feateres, look on speedhut.com and look at the revolution guages its a pretty cool site where you can change colors and lighting and see it change as you click on it so check it out, I'm curious to see how yours are turning out I look for updates here daily I love seeing these old cars come back even if they are low budget rides or over the top .
  25. guages came today they are the revolution by speedhut, silver face and trim, with reverse glow red needles they should look good I think.
