  1. +1 on using Plastic Welder and reinforce with fiberglass matting. Works great!
  2. I agree the crank is C9ZE-6312-B The water pump is C6AE-8509-A (source: Ford parts book) Bo
  3. True...but they are coming back soon. I would wait for them if you can. Check with National Parts Depot, part number 20000-7AC for red: http://www.npdlink.com/store/?p=catalog&mode=newsearch&search_str=20000-7AC&parent=1&year=0 They should be available in the next few weeks. Bo
  4. 3M makes at least 2 different versions of their reflective vinyl. One is for plotter style cutters, the other is thicker for use by a die cutter. AFAIK, Marti Auto Works is the only one using the thicker tape and die cut, like the original. At least one of the reproduction companies is silk screening on the gold inlay. Make sure you get one where the inlay is also vinyl, like the original. Bo
  5. If it helps with your decision...I have an original red dash pulled from a Mach 1 many years ago...the red is only a dye. If I wipe it with lacquer thinner, the red comes right off to expose the black. So it appears even the color dashes, started as black and were just dyed. Bo
  6. I received an email from someone looking for a 1968-1970 Mustang to be filmed for a promotion this month. If you are in the DC area and would like information, please send me a PM. Thanks, Bo
  7. According to the Ford parts manual and the PPG interior color guide, the Blue interior had a blue dash pad. The only interior color that didn't have its own color dash was white, which received a black dash pad. Bo
  8. I guess this has been discussed before, but I don't know if there was a resolution. I am doing some research and would appreciate some clarification from anyone that has or had their original seat covers. The common assumption seems to be that all 1969 Mach 1s had a red stripe in the seat. I can only find original evidence and documentation of this being true for black interiors. I have never seen an original white or dark red interior with the red stripe. I have researched many seats and discussed this with a handful of restoration/industry experts. They seem to be leaning towards the red stripe ONLY being used on the Black Mach 1 seats. Has anyone ever seen a white or dark red original high back seat from a 1969 with the red stripe? I know the restoration shops have been selling them for years...I sold them for 6 years when I worked at a Mustang parts supplier...I am looking for actual examples of original seats. Thanks! Bo
  9. It looks like this chart was derived from the "1969 Illustrated Facts Book". They should have excluded the Blue, Ivy Gold and Nugget Gold Interior Trim columns for Mach 1, since those were not options. It also has the same odd code of "6" for Candy Apple Red with Red interior. I believe it is supposed to be "8" for the Mach 1. Bo
  10. According to the "1969 Illustrated Facts Book", A Raven Black Mach 1 with Black interior would receive a Red tape stripe. Bo
  11. Thanks for the feedback. It was VERY helpful! I was able to confirm a couple things after some additional research... - According to the Ford Parts book, the clear knobs were not introduced until 10/1/71 - According to the PPG interior color guide, only the following Coupe interior items require semi-gloss White color: Door upper garnish molding (65A-C) Door Inner Panel Lower Molding (65A-C) Quarter (65 less Grande) ++ Exposed edge of door rear inner (All models) !! Windshield header molding (63-65) A-pillar (63-65) ++ I assume the Grande Quarter is excluded because it has vinyl trim...since 65B is not excluded, I will conclude that my interior décor interior should have painted quarters and NOT vinyl covered. !! Does this mean the area between the weatherstrip and the door panel should be painted white? - The "Hang on ash tray" should be semi-gloss black - The dash pad lower extensions and package tray are flat Charcoal Black - Steering column and lower dash are semi-gloss Charcoal Black Metallic Thanks, Bo
  12. I am converting my 1969 Coupe to White interior with the Interior Décor Group option. I need some confirmation on what components were white, vs. black... Seat covers - white Seat back panel and hinge covers - white Door panels - white with black carpet at bottom Door pull cups and inserts - white Headliner - white ?? Sun Visors - white ?? Windshield pillar trim - white ?? Rear package tray - white ?? 1/4 trim panels - white ?? painted metal or vinyl covered ?? Coat hooks - white ?? Window crank knobs - white or clear ?? Carpet - black Dash pad - black All other components on dash - black Seat belts - black ?? There is no console (but for completeness it should be black) and the car was built March 10, 1969 Am I missing anything? Thanks! Bo
  13. It will be RED for sure. Fortunately the previous owner did it for me :). I just can't figure out what red he used and he couldn't remember. He just pointed to something in the chip book 6 years ago. I have to paint one of the mirrors, so I will have to have it matched. The original color was Black Jade with Ivy Gold interior. According to "Mustang by the Numbers" by Kevin Marti, they only made 149 coupes with white high backs. I just found a back seat for one of them. I'm going to recover it for this car. (I know any back seat would work, but this adds a coolness factor, imho) I asked the owner where the rest of the car was but he said it was long gone...too bad. Bo
  14. I saw that, I like it! I'm picking up my high back seat frames this weekend. I have the seat covers on order. I am fixing this car up for my wife. She used to have a red 1970 coupe with white interior...then later a red 1969 coupe...then later a red 1969 Mach 1. She likes the looks of the 1969 coupe, but she wanted to have the high back white seats too...and would be happy if they were like her Mach 1 seats... My OCD wont let me just put 1970 seats in her 1969...so I've been tracking down all the parts to give it the stock appearance of the DW trim code. Now she will be happy and I wont be fidgety at the car show. Thanks again for the info. I don't think I would have found those TMI seat covers without your post. Bo
  15. Neither...but I want to convert my car to have the Interior Décor Group and High Back Bucket seats options, in White (trim code would have been DW). You could also get the High Back Bucket seats with standard interior too, but only in black and red (trim codes 4A and 4D) stangs-R-me is correct in that all high backs were the same pattern in 1969. Bo
  16. Well, I found the answer to my question, and the next question..."can you get seat covers?" Thanks stangs-R-me! http://www.1969stang.com/mustang/forum/showpost.php?p=125757&postcount=11 Bo
  17. Does anyone have, or are familiar with the 1969 coupe with the "High Back Bucket Seats" option? I am trying to confirm what the seat pattern looks like. I am assuming they are similar to the Mach 1 bucket seats up front with a matching pattern in the back seat. (Trim code 4A, 4D, 6A, 6D or 6W) I haven't been able to find any pictures. Thanks, Bo
