I installed a Keisler perfectfit TKO in my 70 Mach1, with 351w shaker. They sold out to super sport trans. I believe the trans case is a standard TKO. Notched the cross member with zero ill effects. No other tunnel mods. The shifter was in the correct location. Its been installed since 2009 and no issues with the driveshaft angle. Here is the basic kit i installed. https://shiftsst.com/articles/cat/ford/post/mustang-cougar-1964-1970-perfectfit-kit/

I reused the burlap since it was in really good shape. I also reused most of the wires, some I replaced with duplicates I made from shirt hangers about the same OD. I used a heat gun and took my time to stretch my white strip on TMI black Sport R covers so they fit w/o wrinkles. Have fun.

My crossmember bolts hold a TCP Rack. One of my internal threads was bad likely from corrosion. I tapped both holes 1 size larger and installed grade 8 bolts with a washer and lockwasher.

Understood. Baer brakes are top of the line. They have a wheel template to make sure they fit. If you want a parking brake, and 12 in rotors fit, they likely could make a matching 12 in set for the front. They made up a SS4+ 13 in match setup for my rear.

I have 17" wheels with manual baer brakes front 13" 6P Pro + and rear 13" SS4+, they are fantastic. I really like the rear brake design with a drum inside the disk for parking. 15" wheels really are limiting. Baer makes brakes for 15" but with no parking brake. http://baer.com/Stock-1968-1973-Ford-8-9-Small-Bearing/ very high quality product. I personally would get larger wheels.

70 bezels have a really narrow flange ~ .175 wide. A thin die cut rectangular gasket could work. Maybe I could make a set out of an tire inner tube? They would need to be precision cut so they look like they belong. Thanks for the input. I still think a thin bead of clear silicone inside the flange channel would work well. Only ease of removal is in question. You could push the bezels out from inside the trunk. The light can be replaced w/o any removal of the side marker parts.

Why? Because they will be harder to remove?

evantugby at VMF has a vintage junk yard source to pick parts. I bought two headlight trim pieces from him. He texts pictures of the parts from the yard, if you want them you send paypal immediately.

The 70 bezels have only about ~ .200 wide flange with a channel in it that leaves only a ~ .100 mounting surface. NPD sells a gray foam gaskets but they are way too big and just wrong. I'll us the 3M strip caulk in the channel or maybe clear silicon since I have a white car. Thanks for the feedback.
-
70 rear marker lights mount differently.
-
Since there isn't a gasket between the rear side marker bezel and the quarter panel outside surface what do you use to seal out water? There is no reference to any sealing method in the ford shop manual. There is a channel on the back of the flange, I was thinking a small bead of clear silicone would be the trick.

Than my wiring is correct. Thanks for the input.

2 hours ago, Mach1 Driver said:It depends. It's a screwy circuit. To better understand how it works go to: How To's, 1970 Mustang Exterior Lights (turn signals).
If the headlights or parking lights are on, then the marker lights on that side will flash alternately with the turn signals. If the headlights or parking lights are off, then the marker lights on that side will flash in unison with the turn signals.
Thanks for the how to's heads up. My blinker lights work like this.
Another question regarding the parking / directional signal 1157 BULB. Is the tall filament for the parking light and the short filament for the directional signal? The reason I ask is mustang project (MP-1157-RFB) LEDs apparently will not work if the wires are reversed.

My side marker operation is as follows:
Key off, Headlight switch on: both front parking lights and side markers are on steady state on.
Key on or acc, Headlight switch on, both front parking lights and side markers are on steady state on.
Key on or acc, Headlight switch on, Left Blinker on; left front turn signal and left front side marker blink. right side front parking light and right side marker are steady state on. Ditto for right side blinker operation.
Key on or acc, Headlight switch off, Left Blinker on; left front turn signal and left front side marker blink. right side front parking light and right side marker off. Ditto for right side blinker operation.
-
Looking at the Ford shop manual the side markers are suppose to flash.
-
Are the front side marker lights supposed to flash when the turn signals are on? When my left turn signal is on the left side marker flashes. Ditto for the right. looking at my Jim Osborn wiring diagram schematic, I don't think the side markers should flash.

I have a hand held innovate unit that I use for tuning. It records your trip and then you can view the AFR and RPM graphs on your pc. It works really well. You have to smooth out the AFR curve for a better visual accuracy. The program allows you to make RPM vs AFR charts. I use the average at each 1000 RPM because the AFR raw data has allot of noise. I think its a great tool for tuning even with a carb. I don't think a individual AFR gauge mounted in the car would be very valuable.
-
I have lojack. I could take the ignition box to distributor wire off, its extra long and would be a problem.
-
I have FPA 1.750 full length headers with the wide bolt pattern on my 418w with AFR205's. Although my fitment issues are different, TCP R&P, QT bellhousing the fit is great. Get the wide bolt pattern and don't look back. Alan

FAST 1000-1613: RACE BILLET DISTRIBUTOR FOR 5.0HO/351W FORD - SMALL CAP | JEGS
Like new condition. Original manufacturer Crane Cams sold their dist lineup to FAST. Pictures upon request. Included are new cap, rotor and I think I also have a new gear for it. The machine shop incorrectly mounted the steel gear in the original hole so the flange to gear dimension is incorrect. The gear can be remove and assembled at the correct dimension with a new roll pin and hole. This is a billet roller bearing unit with an optical pickup. I know it works with base timing + advance. Directions included. 1/2 price + shipping. Alan
