  1. I just got a set of 15 x 7's with lugs and center caps from a seller on e-bay $659.95 with free shipping. http://www.ebay.com/itm/330560577382?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Transaction went great. They are made by Wheel Vantiques from CA. The best price on tires I found was Mavis tire. $104 a tire for 235/60's Hope this helps, Jim
  2. I've never been a fan of the rear spoiler or wings on the back of cars. I don't mind integrated spoilers like the way Shelby or Camaro's did it. I really dig the lines of the 69/70 fastback. I always thought it wasn't needed the way the end "duck tails" upward. I know that goes against the grain but look at most 69 Boss 429's and how tough they look without it. I guess that's my long winded answer. Jim
  3. Here is a picture. I don't see a FoMoCo anywhere on it, which I figured it wouldn't. I'm not looking for a million bucks, I just took it off of the car I just got and would rather see it go to good use other than just sit up in my rafters. Any reasonable offer will take it. Thanks, Jim
  4. "how much? got pics? original or repop?" John, I will take a picture tonight. I'm pretty sure it is a reproduction. Thanks, Jim
  5. Anyone out there need a rear spoiler? I took the one off that came with my 69 I just bought. Looks good/new. Thanks, Jim
  6. I agree about the Eleanor talk. I never liked the look of it when it was "cool". Shelby clone would be much better. As for e-bay. I agree that it is the true market. I watched every day for about 3/4 of a year for a 69 or 70. Sellers on e-bay are smoking dope just as much as people selling on classifieds. I saw cars constantly being re-listed because they had some outrageous reserve. Saw the same thing on auto trader. At least with Autotrader your knew what the person wanted and could deal with them. I don't even want to get into what I think Barret Jackson has done t our hobby. My two cents, Jim
  7. Is the cam stuck not rotating?? Another option is to rest the block on its flywheel end and pull it out upward. Helps in not hitting the bearings if you are trying to reuse them. As for lifters, I usually just use a small screwdriver on the spring clip lip. Jim
  8. Dave, Check out this link. I've been following his build for some time. He is building a 427 from a 390 using a Scat rotating assy for a Cobra kit. There is a lot of good info and a couple of links to more info. on the second page. he is very detailed. http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?1215-Engine-Build-Thread-427ci-FE-Big-Block I have a big block Cougar that I plan on doing this too when the funds permit me. Jim
  9. Hey, I was just wondering if you guys who have cut your coils to lower the car tried to achieve the same ride height left to right be cutting the coils differently or did you cut both coils the same. I measured my car and left to right has about 1/2" difference. Thanks, Jim
  10. Buckeye, I don't get to bike as much as I would like especially now that it is winter here. I have done a few long trips in the past and always find them to be some of the best things that I have ever done. The tandem we got just last winter. We had rented them before in Cape Cod so we knew we could ride one. I've always wanted to go across the country. I almost attempted it back around 1992 but it fell through. I take it you bike? Jim
  11. RPM, Me and the wife road that the tandem across NY along the Erie Canal for about 400 miles this summer. It was awesome. we did it in about 4.5 days. Jim
  12. No it didn't. I was able to find a place to mount them for me Friday while I was at work. I swaped them last night while I took the old ones off. Jim
  13. That is what I was planning on doing. I will probably go with mid-eye leafs once I get the front down. Good eye on the hood. Yes it is a 68' XR7 GT 390. The car is in my barn. The original engine was busted but I have a new block. I think the plan will be to go with a Scat stroker kit. The body on the car is perfect. Zero rust. Jim
  14. All, I figured I'd start a project thread. It will force me to take pictures along the way, which I usually think to do after I'm done. So here is the first major thing that I've done. New rims and tires. It had the GT style wheels with 215/70/14 tires on it but I've always wanted a set of Magnums so I got 15 x 7's with BFG 235/60/15. No issues with tire rubbing. In fact, the wheels end up being about the same diameter as what I had on it but are about 1.5' wider. Yes the blue is still on the letters. I tried to wash them off but being it was ~20 degrees when I tried, all I was doing was making ice and freezing my hands. The only issue I've had is 3 of the four center caps are really loose. I'm not sure if I can just bend the tabs to make the fitting tighter or not. Any suggestions? Next up will be lowering the upper control arms. then lowering springs. I will do it in stages to see how it affects the front end.
  15. Thanks for the info on balancing. Good to know. My car has the horrible power steering set-up right now. I will be going to a Randell Rack most likely in the near future. Jim
  16. I hate to do this to you all since I know it has probably been done to death, but I'm ready to order my tires for my 15 x 7 Magnums. I plan on getting BFG Radial T/A's. I just want to confirm with any of you running that size rim will 235/60's work? I want to go as big as possible. A guy with a Boss 302 told me he ran 245/60's, but I figure he had the rolled front fenders so he had no issue. Thanks for your help, Jim
  17. I always dug the Black Jade color. But since getting my FB I'm really starting to dig the Winter Blue Metallic. And, not to offend you 69Mach1 guys, but I have never liked the side body stripe. To me, it just looks cleaner with out it. But hey, I also don't like the rear spoilers either. If we were talking 70 Mach, I definetly would go with Calypso Coral.
  18. I have the 1969 shop manual that has all of the measurements and all of the body panel tolerances in it.Unfortunately I don't have it with me. I can try to scan the pages for you tomorrow if you want. Jim
  19. Is anyone out there running a Randall's Rack with the stock power steering pump? If so, how do you feel it works? Thanks, Jim
  20. I've been thinking about this issue. After talking with a co-worker who used to be involved with the racing scene, something just doesn't make sense. If you take a stock steering set-up and with stock alignment that already returns to center and all you do is replace the steering box, nothing should change. If it does, then you have to ask yourself, what changed? The only things I can come up with either the Borgeson unit doesn't grab the center link in the exact same location or that the steering box is so tight or over powered that it can over ride the natural effect that the wheels want to straighten on their own. Neither one of those cases make me want to get one. My two cents, Jim
  21. They are not sold yet, Although, I have interest from a member. I will let you know if it falls through. Here are pictures of all the wheels. As you can see, the caps are not perfect. Tires date code is 36 week of 2011. Thanks, Jim
  22. I replied. Hopefully I did it right. Thanks, Jim
  23. I made one similar to Chelby-Ann but it didn't require any welding. It just uses threaded rod for the whole length and some square tubing with through holes. It works great, I just make sure it is well greased. I can take a picture if anyone is interested. Jim
