  1. A simpler,safer test can be had. See if a screwdriver is magnetically attracted to the rear bearing of the alt. while running. Steve
  2. Don't pull a battery cable off of a running vehicle. That is not a valid test. It will cause a good alternator to spike the voltage off the chart. Use load and voltage tests. Steve
  3. Agree with Powershift. I've been involved with 2 sets of these and both are problem children. They put a dropping resistor hidden in the harness to protect the motors from jamming I presume. The small resistor fails and there you are. Steve
  4. If you're not running a vacuum advance type distributor you will have a terrible time with heating at cruise. When you start the combustion too late in the cycle the exhaust valve will shut before all the heat is out of the engine. No amount of band-aid's will fix this. You will also a gain in fuel mileage and response. It's just amazing what those Ford engineers know. I learned the hard way,too. Hope this helps, Steve
  5. The front port on the trans is the discharge and the rear port is the return line. Is this the question? Steve
