J's69Mach1 17 Report post Posted December 20, 2014 Have any of you switched from factory Instrument Voltage Regulator ( IVR) located in back of instrument gauge panel,to Solid state CVR ( constant voltage regulator? For a steady fuel gauge reading and not pulsating reading. With positive results. If so , what brand or where did u buy from? Thanks Jaime
ashleesmach1 28 Report post Posted December 20, 2014 Yes, I did install Solid state CVR for my car. It works fine. Had it for about 7 years now. No problems. don't remember where I got mine from maybe NPD
SA69mach 39 Report post Posted December 20, 2014 On the 69 and 70 there are four separate components and two conditions for the gauges to work 1. Accurate sending unit. Range of 10 ohms full, to 78 ohms empty. 2. Undamaged wiring from sender to circuit board plug 3. CVR producing 5 volts to all gauges from a 12 volt feed 4. Functioning gauge with correct resistance range (as per item 1) Conditions are a. good ground at sending unit (through the gas tank to the body) and body. This includes the ground in the instrument plug and the dash mount for the instrument panel b. Good circuit board and connections The solid state CVR's are foolproof. Occasionally I have heard they just don't work out of the box. easy to check them before installation on the board. Ask if you do not know how to check them for voltage output.
