Flanders 46 Report post Posted September 25, 2014 looks like a great starting point for a project, and a cool spec car!
Jimjific 23 Report post Posted September 25, 2014 Yea, it has a lot of neat options. Non-Mach 428, 4spd, tach, sports seat. Interesting that it looks like manual drum brakes. The only real ugh for me would be the Meadowlark Yellow paint. Jim
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted September 25, 2014 Cool car yes, but the seller sounds like a maroon. Double R code??? WTFresno? You don't get to make make up terminology on these cars. R code is ram air 428. Non ram air 428 is Q code. I guess my car is a double M code, how cool is that! Engine is complete, machine work to engine, just needs pistons. Nice, what machine work did they do without the pistons??? Bob
Jimjific 23 Report post Posted September 25, 2014 Bob, I didn't really understand the double "R" thing either. Maybe he's thinking Really Rare? I caught the piston thing too. I'm assuming the machining means it is bored out and the original pistons need changing. Jim
Zipppo 11 Report post Posted October 8, 2014 I think the double R code thing is odd as well. It just shows it was a California built car. Maybe has to do with the fact that the climate out here is gentle on cars compared to say the rust belt parts of the country. However, I have seen cars in places like Pittsburgh,Pa, Argonne, Wi. that are absolutely perfect and have been there since new. It all comes down to care and maintenance. A car that is kept garaged in the winters in those parts of the country are just as nice if not nicer that the cars in the drier parts of the country and the mileage is typically lower. Max Power 74 Report post Posted October 16, 2014 Engine is complete, machine work to engine, just needs pistons. Nice, what machine work did they do without the pistons??? Bob Line bore, decking, cylinder bore, I suppose. I would be happy just to get the original block and heads. My former 69 CJ Mach Q code car had drum brakes. All sorts of go-a, without much whoa!
