FAST EZ-EFI any thoughts

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am considering purchasing a FAST EZ-EFI Fuel injection kit (30227 KIT) for my 69 351 Mach 1 Mustang.

I am looking for improve fuel consumption (UK gas prices!), easier hot starting and smoother running, I realise I will not get any real performance gains. The car is currently running a 600cfm Edelbrock performer carb.

I Believe it is not quite the easy fit they make out as will have to replace the tank sender unit with one with a return pipe and need to weld a O" sensor bung in the exhaust.

Will also need to wire in the fuel pump to the oil pressure switch so in the event of an accident the pump will ultimately stop. Just wodnering if this will make starting difficult as pump will not start till oil pressure up thru cranking engine.

Any thoughts appreciated.

OEM EFI's will run the fuel pump for a few seconds when the ignition switch is turned on. Does the after market EFI' not do this also . Its just momentary to prime the fuel rails.

Mate a really good well built carby is still as good ( some people might disagree) and it would be cheaper overall. I know of a performance guy who fitted a holley fuel injection terminator, not a bad kit but wires everywhere he said. He builds his own carbys there not cheap, but once on the engine just a play with mixture screws and off you drive.

He also rebuilt my dads Autolite in his mustang, runs perfect everytime. If it was me I would work at cost of injection( that is buying the kit and installing it) verus built carby and go from there mate.
