Cohunter 10 Report post Posted August 30, 2013 New to the forum and need to get new tires for my 1969 Mach 1 428 CJ. I have the stock 14in Mach 1 wheels. My mustang is stock and I want to keep the classic look. Planing on BFG Radial T/A what size will fit and look the best? 205/70r14 215/60r14 225/60r14 235/60r14 Don't want to make any changes. What is the biggest tire that won't rub? Thanks
mustangmaniac2 10 Report post Posted August 31, 2013 I took an orig tire in to get a radial as close to the orig. here is a picture. I do not remember the size. These are 70r14
Brian Conway 264 Report post Posted August 31, 2013 I am running 215/70/14's all around. Puts about 7" of rubber on the road. Brian
stangs-R-me 121 Report post Posted September 3, 2013 I believe the largest 14" you could get in '69 "from the factory" was F70-14 and the current equivellent to this is P225/70-14 ... the 80's vintage BFG Radial T/A spare I have in my trunk actually has this written right on the sidewall. You can defintely fit more tire on the car, but the stock 6" wide Mach 1 wheels may not be able to take much wider if any. Doug
