J's69Mach1 17 Report post Posted May 19, 2013 I forgot to mark which direction the gear was when i removed distributor gear on a Msd distributor 351c msd 8580.Does it matter which way it went or am i going to have to send it to msd to install gear. J's69Mach1 17 Report post Posted May 19, 2013 Thanks . No what i mean as far as the way the teeth line up with the roll pin on the shaft? Is there any difference . does it matter? LoneWolf2U 136 Report post Posted May 19, 2013 (edited) Set where ever the pin will go thru. What matters is the distance from the block landing to the dist flange bottom. Too long from the dist flange to the bottom of the gear and the dist will not go all the way in. Too short and the cam/dist gear will not mesh properly.
