Cayenne06 10 Report post Posted October 17, 2012 Any suggestions on a larger oil pan and windage tray for the 390 in my 69 Mach? I undestand there are oil pickup problems with the stock pan and pickup and the engine can suck air on a hard launch.

Cayenne06 10 Report post Posted October 17, 2012 Thanks for the link 427Stang. It appears the stock pan is OK with a windage tray and 6+ quarts.
LindenBruce 27 Report post Posted October 17, 2012 I am using a Canton "T" street race pan. Gives 8 quarts with the same ground clearance as the original pan. Bruce
cobra460jet 10 Report post Posted October 19, 2012 I have a 69 Mach1 with a 390. Im currently building the engine for it now. From all my reasearch it seems that the Canton (road race pan) is the one to go for.
jholmes217 65 Report post Posted October 19, 2012 (edited) Tony Branda sells a Cobra aluminum oil pan that I've been thinking about for my 428. They would go good with the "Snake" Cobra Jet Valve covers. You would also need to get the Canton Oil Pickup to match. http://www.cobranda.com/bigblcooilpa.html Edited October 19, 2012 by jholmes217
kenbrackins 10 Report post Posted October 23, 2012 When I was in high school I braised (sp) a coffee can onto the passenger side of the oil pan to add another quart or so. Painted it ford blue and everyone thought it was some kind of cooling deal. I just removed it after 30 years on there. I think I threw it away but I will see if I can take a pic of it because it was hilarious!!!
