Phils69 27 Report post Posted October 8, 2012 I would really like to refurb my original wheel that going aftermarket if possible. Has anybody had success with this and if so the kit or materials that I would need?
SunnDogg 18 Report post Posted October 8, 2012 Try searching Mustang Monthly's on-line articels. They did one a few years back as a How-To. I sent mine to Rimblow Buddy about a year ago and couldn't be happier.
Phils69 27 Report post Posted October 9, 2012 Thanks. I found that write up and it's worth a shot compared to the cost of having it restored. Mine needs the pc that goes around the rear of the wheel and could use the vinyl insert in the top. I'll have to see if I can find these somewhere. Phils69 27 Report post Posted October 9, 2012 Will do. May buy a cheap wheel so I can still drive it while I'm redoing the original.
Phils69 27 Report post Posted October 12, 2012 Looking to buy a temporary wheel while I restore mine. Think this one will work? http://www.cjponyparts.com/grant-black-foam-13-inch-steering-wheel-kit-1965-1969/p/STWG7/
1969 coupe 15 Report post Posted October 14, 2012 I would go for the 15" kit. If you are not going to keep it, I know somebody who may be interested in it when you get your original restored. If you need one for a while, I could bring you my standard wheel to borrow since mine will be a while before needing it.
