Need advice on Rear Valence fitment issue

I made a major mistake and did not fit the rear valence before paint.

 

Now where the inner tabs on both ends meet with the inner rear quarter, one side is not recessed enough for the valence to fit snug. The rear right quarter is a repop we installed and the lower rear panel does not have a recessed spot like the original.

 

So in order to fit the valence tab I have to either cut a hole or dent it in...

 

I do not want to damage the paint severely, so what do yall recommend?

Just my 2cents but I would ask the body guy. I would not want to mess a nice paint job up. May be worth a few bucks just to let him take care of it. No good way to fix that with out messing something up.

Not sure if your valance is repop or original, but if it is repop get yourself something original. My repop valance wasn't even close to my original. Ended up reworking the original.

 

Good luck, but I'd also let the shop do it to minimize paint damage.
