Need advise on my '68's steering.

Recommended Posts

I just got off the phone with Unisteer regarding the install of my manual r&p kit on my '68. The tech guy told me in order to set the bushing in the column I would have to recess the inner column about an 1 1/2" into the outer column. He said I could do it 1 of 2 ways. Cut the inner column 1" deep into the outer (how the hell am I going to do that!) or use a large socket and tap it until it reaches a depth of 1" (won't that move or break something?). I guess I could combo it by cutting the outer 1/2" off and once flush then tap it in the remaining 1". Not really loving any of the options unless I get some positive feedback from genuine Mustang folks. That is the last hold up to the steering conversion being complete and driving it.

As always, thanks!!!!!
