71 Mustang Power Steering

I've noticed that the 71 Mustangs use the more conventional power steering instead of the "power assist" steering.

 

Has anyone tried to adapt the 71 power steering to a 69???

 

As similar as 64-73 Mustangs seem to be in many aspects, I thought

someone may have tried it.

I'd be interested in this as well. I didnt know the later 71 used a real powered sector. The power assist system although used across several model years is problematic.

That would very interesting if that can be done instaed of using the power assisted system or the Borgesen system.

I thought I read somewhere that a guy found what looked to be a powered sector identical to the Borgeson steering box. I believe he found it in a Pathfinder for all things. IIRC he was able to get it bolted in but determined the pitman arm had to be modified - as in welded. I lost interest at that point.

 

I'm still interested in this topic but I would bet if it was an easy swap this would be a well beaten path. It is interesting though as donor cars might also include Cougars and other 71-73 cars?
