Can you use 9" parts for an 8"?

I was browsing around CJPonyParts looking to rebuild my 8" and didn't see very many 8" parts but they had a listing for 8"/9" axles so does that mean that axles and lockers for a 9" can be used in a 8"?

There are some interchangeable parts but why make it complicated? 8" differential parts are readily available and one of those things you don't have to rely on the Mustang specialty houses to get. Google 'Ford 8" parts' and you'll find lots of places deal in them.
