Is 6.5" BS too much for stock wheel housing?

...With a granada 9" rear? It is narrower than the usual stang housing.

 

15x10, 6.5 BS.

How much narrower is that rear? With stock width rear housing, I was able to fit 17x10.5 with 6.8" BS and 1/2" spacer. Net backspacing would be 6.3". You will most likely need to use spacers with that setup.

You will probably need roughly 3/4" spacers. I have less than 1/4" clearance from the wheel lip to the leaf springs, so with that I have about 6.5" from the face of the brake drum to the leaf spring. If you have 1/2" narrower axle on each end, you should have roughly 6" (measure this!). Throw in some 3/4" spacers and you'll have 1/4" clearance from the wheel to your leaf springs. No car is the same so you need to do the measurements yourself. Also keep in mind the 3/4" spacers add stress to your lug nuts if they are a through design. I'd look into ones that have lugs built into them similar to these below:
