69fstback 10 Report post Posted November 23, 2011 I have a 1969 mustang... it is going to have a 496 stroker in it.. I am in need of knowing the weight of the car... he camshaft grinder needs the weight to make the best cam grind.. here is the rundown to make a accurate guess... my guess was 3300lbs... 1969 mach 1 full interior high backs etc (no sound deadening) c4 tranny 9" rear alumnium radiator 15.8 weld rims in back and 15x4 skinnies up front 496 big block based on 460... (alumnium heads, aluminum pump, aluminum intake, headers) my guess without me in the car is 3300lbs... does this sound even close? if you want to know more about my engine combo just let me know.. should run in the low 11's high tens... or anything else about the car
LiLMike 42 Report post Posted November 23, 2011 Is the car running? If so then I wouldn't want to take any chances, I would go to a truck stop and get the car weighed on their truck scales. Just a suggestion.
BuckeyeDemon 211 Report post Posted November 23, 2011 for the fidelity a camshaft grinder will really need, 3300 is probably good enough. however, i've seen a couple of threads for 69/70 mach 1's with 351's. i think the ballpark was 3350 to 3450 (fuel can account for up to 100 lbs. options of course play a role, your weight will change with a rollbar, aluminum heads, intake, sound deadener, spare tire, etc.
sportsroof69 13 Report post Posted November 23, 2011 Mine is full interior, toploader, 9 in, 351W with aluminum heads, lightweight rotating assembly, weld 8" in the back, 3" in the front, and it weighs 3260 lbs. I think you'll be more like 3350-3400 + you for a race weight.

sportsroof69 13 Report post Posted November 23, 2011 Add your weight too. He basically wants a race weight, which includes you in the car. My race weight is 3460.
