69BLJadeConv 10 Report post Posted August 12, 2011 Thinking about trying a 1pc oil pan gasket to help prevent leakage. Looking for opinions, tips etc. What brand is the best? Do you use sealant with the 1pc? The engine is out of the car. Thanks Steve

rangerdoc 22 Report post Posted August 12, 2011 Get the felpro one. It is sooooo easy to put on! They provide studs that hold it in place. I haven't had a leak since installing. I also use The Right Stuff for the corners. I guess since the engine is out you won't need the studs to hold it in place but it is still a great gasket. I used one of theirs for the tranny pan as well.

jholmes217 65 Report post Posted August 12, 2011 +1 to what Rangerdoc said. I have one, and after installing the oil pan using that gasket, I later had to take the pan back off (oil pump drive shaft problem)and reused it. No leaks.

Trinitys 134 Report post Posted August 12, 2011 +2 for the felpro one piece. You'll have trouble in the future if you pull the timing chain cover while the motor is in the car but if you're not worried about that.....go for it.
