Vibration at high rpm

Recommended Posts

Whenever I rev up the car ('69 vert 302 automatic)...whether it be in neutral or in gear, I get some vibration. Given that it happens in neutral, I'm confident it's nothing to do with the transmission or anything behind it. So...what does this leave me with? Harmonic balancer...flex plate...fly wheel? I've read some cases of guys having the wrong flexplate on their '69 engine...for example, some guys found they had a flexplate from a mid 80's 5.0 mustang on their '69 engine...which causes vibration because its heavier than what they used in '69. The number on my flexplate is EOST-AA...which I can't seem to find a reference to anywhere. I talked to a guy at a shop yesterday and he mentioned the part #C5AE-A being correct. Can you guys confirm/deny this? I'm having trouble finding info on this. Thanks!

I bought the car on the verge of death. Did all the metal work and restored the body. Now I'm working on getting the engine & drive train "right". I have very little time on the engine since we just put it back in this spring and it was undrivable when we bought it. This vibration has been consistent since we've reinstalled it, though.
