70 Mach 1 - battery cable routing?

Recommended Posts

Negative battery cable on a Ford typically goes right to the engine block to a dedicated threaded hole ... usually somewhere on the right lower corner (provided the battery is located in the right front corner). The rest of the car then gets it's battery ground via the block to firewall ground strap.

The only component in the car that needs the amp capacity of the big ground cable is the STARTER, so running this cable anywhere other than the engine block is a big no no.

Here are some pics of the battery cable routing on my 70 Mach.

Starts off running behind the battery

Bolts up around the voltage regulator

Runs down to bolt onto the block

Couple of shots where it bolts to the voltage regulator

Hope it helps

Great, stuff, thanks Amochoru! The kit comes with two black cables. The negative from the battery terminal has an intermediate lug that attaches to one of the VR mounts. I guess the second cable is from solenoid to starter.
