Repro windshield and moulding height

Getting ready to install my reproduction winshield , but am questioning the glued in height for the moulding. I was going to use the 3m 3/8 ribbon sealer , but since the new windshield is thinner than the original i think there will be a gap between it and the moulding . Anybody installed a new winshield lately? Looking for results / tips. Thanks

we left as much of the original sealer (only 6 months old) as possible on my car & laid the new stuff over the top ( the old guy who fitted the second screens idea) it really packed the new screen out & closed the gap with the top molds. 1 year & no leaks later, very happy with the results.
