Metal channel that roof to window?

weatherstrip sits in. What goes between the metal channel and roof of car? Weatherstrip adhesive? This part gets screwed to the roof but also had something between, black tar kind of stuff.

It is strip caulking. I got mine from a local commercial glass shop. Don't skimp on the quality. It will leak there.

Perfect timing of question - doing mine right now. Had the same question. I was thinking I would reqular clear indoor/outdoor caulking. can't imagine why that would not work.

I wnt to autozone and picked up weather strip for glass replacement. I'm sure it is the same stuff. came in a 15 foot roll - about 3/8" wide. Stuff is real pliable and can be stretched - did one side and only used a couple of feet since I strectch the stuff out. 3/8 would be too thick.

Made by Metro - called Supersoft ribbon sealer.

1/16 thick,approx 3/8 wide. Mobile home supply houses have been known to have it also. Just don,t get the grey strip caulk. The Metra product is probably good also.
