8 inch backing plates on a 9 inch rear end

Guys- Are these interchangable? Can you use backing plates from an 8" rear end on a 9"? Thanks

I used them off my 8 inch on my 9 inch. Axles too.

Yes, I replaced my 8" with a 9" from a cougar XR7. I pulled the axles, unbolted the backing plates without removing the brakes, unbolted the U-bolts, slid out the 8", slid in the 9" and bolted everything back together with the 9" axles.
