FallujahMedic 10 Report post Posted October 29, 2009 I saw a post where cphsonic added fr500 wheels to his car and they looked great. I've just finished mini-tubbing my rear, I can fit 20's if need be. My problem is the BS on the wheels I'm looking at. http://www.americanmuscle.com/18x10-gt4-0509-chrome.html 18x10 Back Spacing: 7.2" (184mm), Offset: +45mm (1.8") My only limiting factor is the leaf springs, will they fit? Fender lips are rolled as well. Also, If I went with coil-overs, could I delete the shock towers?
SELLERSRODSHOP 13 Report post Posted October 30, 2009 i've got 6" of backspace on mine with about 3/4" clearance to the leafsprings.
cphsonic 11 Report post Posted October 30, 2009 I've got 10.5" with 6.35" BS and about 3/8" clearance to the springs so you are definitely pushing your luck. Start looking for spacers. :shifty:
FallujahMedic 10 Report post Posted October 31, 2009 would the spacers put me too far outward toward the fenders? What size spacers would you recommend? Love those wheels man!
fordtj69 10 Report post Posted October 31, 2009 hi cphsonic what size tyres are you running on the back ? im looking at running 285/40 by 17s on a 9 1/2 by 17 with a 4.5 backspace with stock leaf springs withn rolled outer guards i think that will fit all the best tim
cphsonic 11 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 I'm running 295/30 R18 and they put me right at the edge but without having to roll the lips. Guess you'd get away with 295's and a 3/4" spacer (putting you close to the spring) up to maybe 1 1/2" (putting you right at the lip). fordtj69, you'd need more backspace than that I think. Here's a good reference with some safety margin: http://www.nzmustang.com/TechData/wheels_&_tyres.htm
FallujahMedic 10 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 Cphsonic, do you think I could make those fit http://www.americanmuscle.com/18x10-gt4-0509-chrome.html without too much surgery? Also, what about the coilovers, could I then remove the shocktowers?
grendi 16 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 you could probably swap the rear end with one of a 71-73 mustang. that would be like using a 1" spacer on both sides.
Chappy 18 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 Why not order the same rims fit for 99-04 cars... http://www.americanmuscle.com/18x10-gt4-chrome.html They have 6.4" backspacing, same fitment as cphsonics car.
FallujahMedic 10 Report post Posted November 4, 2009 Excellent idea! now, what about the coil-overs, any ideas? Anyone?
