Change to electronic vrs point distributor?

How do you get the tach to work after changing to electronic vrs point distributor?

It depends on which electronic ignition you use. I have a factory tach with the Duraspark II ignition and I didn't make any changes at all to the tach, although I did route a full 12v to the ignition by using the brown start circuit to bypass the resistance wire after going through the tach.

If the tach is designed to run off the - side of the coil, there should be no changes required. Tho I do remember something about the factory tach being a little weird.

The factory tach is wired in series with the resistor wire going from the ign swiitch to the +coil terminal so it's gets confusing. Here's an old thread that covers a lot of the theory (some of which may be right) :huh:
