LSG 15 Report post Posted June 29, 2009 Guys, need some memory help here. If I remove the crossmember that ties the bottom of the towers together, can I remove my oil pan and replace the pump on my 302 ? Car is a 69 FB, 302 auto. I seem to remember having done this to a 351C in a '70, but that was like, 30 yrs ago......and memory gets fuzzy. Pump & pan replacement with the engine in the car is possible, isn't it ? LoneWolf2U 136 Report post Posted June 29, 2009 Yes, but dropping the Idler arm also, will lower the steering link and will assist you in this task.
69again 10 Report post Posted June 29, 2009 I just put a new oil pan gasket on last weekend. Yes, Just remove the cross member. Becareful when aligning the hex shaft that comes from the distributor. My oil pan gasket had 4 alignment pins, which came in handy.
