AOD strength????

Recommended Posts

I have a 69 with a pretty much stock 302 (edelbrock manifold and carb are the only changes) and the tranny just quit. I was thinking about putting in an AOD, but the trans guy I was going to use said the AODs were not that strong and didn't think that would be the best option. Anyone have any pros, cons, or other thoughts/ideas?

"Not that strong" is a matter of opinion. They arn't known for being strong or weak.

Newer 5.0's make significantly more power than your 302 will make, and the AOD's in those cars seem to be pretty reliable. AOD's can also be rebuilt to handle much more power if needed.

I think an AOD will work well in your car.
